Wayne Rooney has been levied with drink-driving when he was stopped by Cheshire law enforcement agent on early Friday morning.
He was arrested on notion of this misconduct at around 2am on Friday.
The 31-year-old is currently levied and will appear at Stockport Magistrates’ Court on third Monday of September 18th – that will be the day after he goes back to Manchester United FC with Everton in the Premier League.
Police statement goes thus, “Cheshire Police has levied a man with drink-driving after a vehicle stop in Wilmslow.
“He was arrested briefly after 2.00am today, Friday 1st September, when officers stopped a black-cloloured VW Beetle on Altrincham Road, Wilmslow.
“Wayne Rooney, 31, has since been levied with driving while over the authorized limit.”
Rooney made known his international retirement previous week after he scored 53 goals in 119 appearances.
The striker was on target in his first two league appearances this season after he rejoined boyhood club from Manchester United.
