A cyclist girl, 13 years, is striving for her life in Melbourne, Australia, after she was hit by a BMW whose driver ran away.
The girl was riding at the edge of Bell and Sussex streets in Coburg around 8pm on Sunday when the vehicle hit her. The driver of a huge, dark-coloured car initially stopped for some time afterwhich he suddenly drove away. The cyclist was rushed to clinic with very fatal injuries.
Detective Stuart McGregor said police were in search of the vehicle, which will be recognized by damage to the front windscreen and left-hand mirror.
McGregor said: “The girl is in a chronic state. She has been hit and left there to die slowly on the roadside. “Nobody should suffer from this kind, no mother or father or grandparent will never want their children to encounter this, not to talk of being left on the roadside just to die by somebody who left the scene and does not even have the thought to wait and assist.”
